The Colorado River and its tributaries have cut
a path through much of Utah and Arizona. It has
left deep gorges through the many layers of sand
stone. You can view this effect at many parks
across this region. One play where the gorge is easily
seen in all it glory is at Dead Horse State Park.
Dead Horse is right outside of Canyonlands National Park
and just a few minutes from Moab UT.
