Eldorado Canyon
Eldorado
allows you to experience early Nevada. Gold and
silver mining began in the Canyon soon after the Civil
War. About half way down the canyon is the
Techatticup Mine where you can learn more about the
area's history and tour the old mine. The Canyon runs
from the little village of Nelson to the Colorado River.
The scenery is often stark and beautiful. The road ends
in a undeveloped part of the National Recreational Area.
Eldorado Canyon is a short drive from Las Vegas, off of
US 95 /a few miles south of Henderson. Exit US 95 at
Nevada Route 165 and drive to the village of Nelson.
Continue on Route 165 to view the Canyon.
