Mammoth Lakes

Mammoth is known more as a ski area rather than summer lake escape. However, Mammoth's Lakes are sparkling jewels with mountain scenery to match. You can camp around most of the lakes. There are boats to rent and many fish to catch. There are local stores at most of the lakes. To get to Mammoth Lakes, take US 395 and exit at Mammoth Lakes road, California Route 203. In the town, when you reach a Y in the road, take left fork - Lake Mary Rd.

Mammoth is a large resort area. It has many motels and restaurants. We recommend staying at the Mammoth Mountain Ski Hotel. If you are inclined toward camping, one of the most beautiful sites that you can find is at Twin Lakes which is just west of Mammoth.
