 Mormon Rocks
The San Andreas Fault runs from Mexico up
through California and exits the continent at San
Francisco. The fault is often just a crease across
the landscape. At places, it can hardly be
noticed. At other places like Mormon Rocks, the
fault has uplifted the earth to display the faults
awesome power. At Mormon Rocks giants slabs of granite
have been turned on their sides and lifted into the
air. Many pass this point on Interstate 15 in
Cajon Pass without noticing the effects of our drifting
continent. There is easy access to the rocks for
climbers.
