Mount San Jacinto State Park

Palm Springs is not known for snow but you can find it with a couple of miles from the city.  The state of California has a state park in the mountains above the city.  A spectacular ride up to the park is just a cable car away.  The cable car even turns so you can have a full view of the mountain and the city during the ride.  The park is right outside the cable station at the top.  Many months of the year, you can play in the snow.  Other times just walking in the pine forests is a relief from the  summer heat.
