Red Rock

The Red Rock National Conservation Area is a ruby jewel located in the western part of Las Vegas. It is easily toured by car but you will want to stop and enjoy a short hike to the vibrant rocks, ancient pictographs, and desert springs. There is a educational Visitor Center, and picturesque picnic areas for your lunch or snacks. Enjoy the abundance of desert plants and amazing flowers in spring. This park is just a half hour drive west from the las Vegas strip. Tour the Park's Scenic Loop but  don't miss the Calico entrance a half mile before the Park's stone monument which has a wonderful picnic area.

Along Charleston Ave, close to Red Rock, are a series of restaurants . We recommend Vintner Grill as the best amount many fine restaurants. Since this park is just on the outskirts of the city, we recommend staying the evening at a local hotel such as Suncoast or one on the strip.
