Redwood National and California State Park

Redwoods abound on the northern coast of California. These tall majestic trees tower over all else in this area. The parks have a magnificent road running through the middle - a must drive. The forest is so dense that you can only see a few feet through the trees. Elk are abundant and are accustomed to people so you can get within feet of them but do not try to pet. Must drive the Redwood Highway and get out and walk among the trees.

There is easy access to the park. US 101 runs through much of it between the northern California cities of Eureka and Crescent City. There are some hotels in the park itself and many in the coastal town of Crescent City just north of the park.
