Salt River Canyon

The Salt River forms a deep gorge like so many other rivers West. Many float down this river when it is flowing strongly. The easiest access to the canyon is north east of Phoenix along US 60. The highway crosses the canyon at the Apache Reservation. The drive to the river is very scenic and the views of the canyon from the road are spectacular.

There are are no services along US 60 between Globe and Show Low. So bring a snack. There are many hotels and restaurants at either of these cities or alternatively in Phoenix.
